Immunologic importance of the skin

By: Anonymous - Wed 5/02/2007 AM
Lichen sclerosis is a deep disease -- in the dermis. nUVB penetrates only into the keratinocytes... the basement membrane is the boundary.

How does this work? By affecting Keratinocytes, and keratinocytes responsible for chemokines... these chemokines move to the dermis to produce an effect. This shows the immunologic importance of the skin!

Antiinflammatory effects are also mediated by responses to Langerhans's cells.

MMP's activate fast fast ligant... and activate apoptosis. This may not explain the antiinflammatory effect.
